Local Bavarian Scenery
To the southeast of Ansbach are the small towns of Lichtenau and Sachsen.  Here are some pictures.  Our sponsor and best friends, the Ericksens, lived in this gorgeous two story, full basement house.  They're housesitting our cats.  She teaches band at the high school and he makes beautiful wooden furniture.  Their two boys, Stephen and Spencer, are the same ages as Danielle and Marie and they get along well.  Now they're watching over Danielle at BYU.
The Katterbach Kaserne where Janet works and Marie goes to school.  It's not a big post, but it has a post office, small PX, theater, gym, Burger King, German "doeners" (like gyros in the States, but better) and pizza, elementary school, and middle/high school.  The biggest pain is there are several sections of the base scattered across town, so the library and other elementary school/housing area are 20 minutes from this area.  Another post, Illesheim, is also affiliated and sends kids to the middle/high school here.  This base has lots of cool helicopters, but no planes or jets, sigh.
View from the second floor balcony of our house in Zellrueglingen. View from the highway towards Zellrueglingen, still several km away.
