Our Wonderful First House in Germany
Housing here is sort of sparse but the houses are beautiful and some quite large.  We were very blessed to find a wonderful place just 10 km from the base.  It is totally huge, with a fenced yard for the dog, three stories (two and a walkout basement which is technically another rental, but we'll rent them both for privacy--ok with housing), a two car garage, 3 1/2 baths, a jillion rooms, etc.  Here are a whole bunch of photos.
You can read a book while it finishes downloading.  :-)
The house is at the end of the street of a very small village outside a small town.  There's some sort of firewood storage up the street, then forest.  Down the street are houses.  There's a small pond, brick patio area, and berry patch in the back yard.  The best thing is the landlords, the Fuchs--they are REALLY nice.
Front of house with our rental care and the current tenant.                               Front brambly yard.
Up the street mystery woodpiles then woods with hiking trails.                         Danielle and down the street.
Backyard pond and man-eating ivy.                                                 Backyard garden area and entrance from garage area.
The first floor has the main entrance.  Come in and turn left to go to some largish rooms and right to the kitchen and dining room.  It comes with a built-in refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and counters.   Some German houses have nothing--not even a sink!  The tenant provides the kitchen!  The main bath has a double sink, shower and bath.  There's also a half-bath by the front door and full baths upstairs and down.  Nice with three women in the house!
Upstairs are the bedrooms, a bath, and walk-in closet.
The walk-out basement could be a separate apartment.  It has it's own electricity meter, full bath, several rooms, including the laundry room (appliances from the base).
